Brasil : Will Guarani people survive ? Frei Betto, Dominican raises his voice

A Justiça revogou a ordem de retirada de 170 índios Guarani-Kaiowá das terras em que habitam no Mato Grosso do Sul. Em carta à opinião pública, eles apelaram: “Pedimos ao Governo e à Justiça Federal para não decretar a ordem de despejo, mas decretar nossa morte coletiva e enterrar nós todos aqui. Nós já avaliamos a nossa situação atual e concluímos que vamos morrer todos, mesmo, em pouco tempo”.

Rio + 20 UN Conference on Sustainable Development

Rio+20, taking place this month in Rio de Janeiro, aims to secure renewed political commitment for sustainable development, assess progress made and remaining gaps in the implementation of the outcomes of the major summits on sustainable development, and address new and emerging challenges. In a unique decision, the UN has invited all stakeholders (governments, intergovernmental agencies, and civil society) to contribute to a working document as the basis for the outcome document of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, also known as Rio+20.
