On the occasion of the 12th plenary session of the UN Human Rights Council, the Dominican Order pleaded with the United Nations, as well as its member states, to do everything possible to combat acts of communitarian violence.

In its oral statement, the Delegation of the Dominican Order emphasized the situation of Christian minorities in India and Pakistan, communities which have been subjected to recurring acts of violence in recent years. Focusing on the exploitation of communitarian tensions by extremist groups, the Order insisted that the countries involved need to go beyond mere stopgap remedies, instead getting all the way down to the root causes of this violence.
