The Dominican Order strongly condemns massacre of Christians in Bagdad

Present in Iraq for centuries, the Dominican Order strongly condemn the massacre of innocent Christians gathering in their Baghdad parish (Sayidat al-Najat of Karada) on October 31th. The Order of Preachers ask the Iraqi Authorities and all stakeholders to take all the necessary measures to stop those criminal and discriminatory attacks. The Iraqi government must take strong actions to bring authors and sponsors to justice and to prevent further Christiano-phobic actions of this sort. The Christian community is a native and essential part of the Iraqi people. As such, it is entitled to protection against hate crimes and discrimination.
