The Holy See's "Minister for Foreign Affairs" speaks at the UN Human Rights Council

For the first time, the "Minister of Foreign affairs" of the Holy See speaks at the UN Human RIghts Council recalling the Church's commitment to the implementation of fundamental and universal Human Rights worldwide. In his statement, Mgr. Dominique Mamberti recalled the need for the States and people of good will to contribute to the common good by cooperating to the practical implementation of universal, interdependent and interrelated Human Rights. The right to keep or change one’s beliefs at the UN general Assembly

“The right of conversion and the right not to be forced to convert or reconvert belong to the internal dimension of a person’s religious or belief-related conviction, which is unconditionally protected under international human rights law,” the Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief, Heiner Bielefeldt told the UN General Assembly while presenting his report.
