Around the world, populations are facing human rights and humanitarian crises that need a quick response from the international community. The primary work of Dominicans for Justice and Peace is to engage in long term strategies at the UN to ensure that human rights are effectively promoted and defended. However, when an emergency situation requiring international attention arises, the organization ensures that the necessary visibility is given to it. It thus hopes to provide the international community with reliable information coming from the ground, to strengthen the work of credible local leaders in addressing the root causes of the crisis and to promote peace building efforts. With this type of response, the organization offers a channel of communication between those working on the ground and the actors of the international community and ensures that possible strategies to contribute to solutions are shared.
