THE UNITED NATIONS ENVIRONMENT ASSEMBLY (UNEA)
Created in June 2012 and gathering all 193 UN Member States, UN Environment Assembly (UNEA) is the world’s highest-level decision-making body on the environment. It meets biannually in Nairobi, Kenya, to discuss and decide on matters of global environmental policies and international environmental law, contributing to the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. UNEA also governs the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).

THE COMMITTEE OF PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVES
With 118 members, the Committee of Permanent Representatives is the inter-sessional intergovernmental body of UNEA. It was formally established as a subsidiary organ of the Governing Council (now the UN Environment Assembly) in May 1985. With its meetings on a quarterly basis, the Committee assists with the preparation of UNEA and its agenda, advises the Assembly on policy making and supervises the implementation of its decisions.
As an observer organisation in the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) of UNEP, Dominicans for Justice and Peace regularly follows the quarterly sessions of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR), and, at times, the two-weekly meetings of its subcommittee.
