In the protection and promotion of human rights, conflicts sometimes arise between different rights, opening the door to polarisation between stakeholders and States within multilateral forums. Consequently, the Academic engagement programme was created with the aim of strengthening the reflections of Dominicans on some key contemporary issues and conflicts of rights emerging at the UN. Through this programme, the Delegation intends to cooperate with the Order’s academic institutions, to develop a Dominican academic network that will mull over and deepen its understanding of these issues. The fruits of such deliberations will then be used to enhance Dominican contributions in the discussions at the UN, through conferences, collaborative publications and other initiatives.
